Calendered PVC is a complex composition of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) polymers engineered for external application with standard weather conditions & UV exposure. While the surface of the material can be exposed to both water & sunlight the natural characteristics of PVC will vent off plasticizer, ageing the product & affecting clarity and flexibility over time.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
PVC windows are susceptible to degradation due to UV light exposure and dirt, dust and pollutants in the atmosphere. These factors can cause PVC windows to become brittle and discolour over time. A proper cleaning and protecting regime is essential in enhancing the life span of your PVC.
- Avoid the use of solvents and harsh cleaners
- Avoid exposure to abrasion - PVC surfaces can be scratched with the use of coarse cleaning cloth or excessive rubbing
- Use Neutral diluted detergents, such as IMAR #301 Protective Cleaner, and a soft sponge or cloth to remove marks, dust & contaminates without effecting the structure or makeup of the PVC.
- Regular use of a Protective Polish, such as IMAR #302, is advised to keep your PVC supple and flexible and reduce the risk of UV damage.
STORAGE AND HANDLING
- It is vitally important that PVC surfaces are not exposed to chemical compounds capable of damaging the PVC Surface.
- Avoid dropping PVC rolls and any high impact knocks to the PVC roll as this can cause damage and dents to the film.
- Avoid storing PVC in high humidity or high temperatures
- Store PVC out of direct sunlight
